Cakes on location

I have neglected my blog,  I read lots of blogs,  then tutted at myself for not getting in to a routine of doing mine.   Time to try again.

Today's subject is my cakes on location.
A few weeknds ago I had my first Saturday consisting of 2 wedding cakes.  One of which was made entirely on the day.

I put on my new purple chef jacket and it transformed me in to a super cake lady. I began baking and took a break to deliver a wedding cake I made the previous evening,  just a few miles away at Nant y ffin, Llandissilio.  The cake for Julie and Andrew was a cascade of hearts with lilac glitter.  There was a disaster when I discovered I forgot my camera - here is a photo from one of the guests!

I grabbed a friend to accompany me on this crazy day and after standing back and admiring the room, Chair covers really transform a room don;t they? Christinas looked fantastic (she got married at this venue too so I'm sure she enjoyed setting up the room!)

So we rushed back to the kitchen, quickly ate somethign and filled up the car with the freshly baked sponges and LOADS of washed fruit.
The cake was for Vanessa and Trefor at the beautiful Slebech Park just a few miles from my home.  The 4 tiers of victoria sponge and fresh fruit was so much fun, it had to be built on site and we had a time slot to do so.  As we assembled in the besutiful marquee we caught glimpses of smart guests and pretty flowergirls.  I found it all very excited, and even more so when Angharad Gwenter the photographer came in to the room. We obviously did not have much time left - Angharad got some great shots of the final touches being added to the cake and as the last rose petal went on the table the bride and groom stood beside me!  It was wonderful to get to see their reactions and then watch them have their photos taken with the cake.  We left the marquee and welled up hearing squeeling ladies as they see the cake for the first time.

I love weddings!

Special Occasions coming up!

I am not a avid blogger - yet, as you can see from the long delay.
This week I have been preparing for winter - in a cake fashion.  Working on the Christmas and Halloween collections. Halloween Cupcakes

I wish I had more time to make examples of what I can do - I have so many ideas!

Coming up this week I will be working on a Cinderella carriage,  pirates and princesses and a hello kitty themed '1'.    I can see a lot of glitter being used - it has started already .............

I have been lucky enough to be asked to get involved in some great cakes recently.  If you fancy a browse they are in my gallery on the website or on my facebook page - Cake Carousel

Pembrokeshire Farmers Market

Well,   I am now a producer at the Pembrokeshire Farmers Market!
I had a phone call on the Monday asking if I would like to join on the Friday.   What a great opportunity!  So the week turned in to a very busy one.  I already had 100 cupcakes to make for a graduation party at the Plas Hyfryd in Narberth on the Saturday.

I managed it,  and it went great!   My stall seemed to attract lots of passers by and plenty of oohs and ahhhs.  Guranteed to spark a smile for me!
And a Italian family was impressed enough to take lots of photos!
Oh - and i sold lots of cakes too!

I will be at the farmers markets every other week until the end of September at least.

Getting summer ready

WOW, the place is really warming up.  yesterday evening we headed to the beach.  Newport, West Wales.   North Pembrokeshire beaches are beautiful spots but we usually avoid during 'tourist season'  so we see those beaches are cooler and exposed.....  but our opinons have been changed.  It wasnt that busy despite being half term.
Once we brushed the sand off ourselves we headed to Solva for food before heading home in time for the kids to watch Britains Got Talent!!

I wasnt prepared for this summery outing so wasnt exposing enough skin to soak up the rays so I got straight in the bathroom when we got home and I am now like the boots advert, without the bronzed!!

As for cakes - it all kicks off on Monday.  One very busy week ahead with includes a tardis, pugeot 206, pool table and a 3 tier cake.

My inspiration

Cath kidston makes me smile - Id have the prints everywhere if I could!  They are running a competition on the facebook page to win a embroidered doctors bag.  Nice isnt it!!  Fingers crossed I am a lucky winner.

It's the shabby chic and vintage looks that influenece my clothing choices, interior decoration and now my cakes.  I found Carina's Cupcakes on facebook.  Some of the most original cupcakes I have ever set my eyes on. The pastel colours and shimmer are a real treat!  Carina is also from the few messages we have exchanged a lovely lady, she has created a guide to help cupcake sellers package their for posting.   Browsing her photos inspired me in photographing some cupcakes on my bank holiday afternoon - a tea cup went upside down!

Also yesterday, I introduced a new range to the website ,  the Special Fondant Cupcakes.  These cupcakes all have a buttercream filling but the top is all fondant (not supermarket stuff - tastes better than that!), these cupcakes can help make a message or tell a story and can be pretty pieces like the purple ones here or a story telling set like the garden ones here.
After all our hardwork this bank holiday weekend, we were a tired family here -
